ONE MORE TIME-
The rest of the story.
Two years ago, as many of you know, Mr Kippers’ internist, Dr. Nancy Treadwell, gave him a green light to serve as Grand Marshal of Barkus and Meoux-if he could ride in a cart.
The kind people at Barkus & Meoux had an elaborately decorated golf cart waiting for him when we arrived.
We were overwhelmed in 2014 by people chanting, “Mr KIPPERS, Mr KIPPERS”. We had absolutely no idea that this many people were following his story. But, one of the highlights of that day was looking into the crowd of over 5000 and seeing, front and center, Dr. Treadwell standing there watching the festivities, but knowing that she was really there incase her patient needed her.
NOW, TWO YEARS LATER, this little bully, who has overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, was back as King of the 2016 Krewe of Barkus & Meoux.
And, once again, to a crowd which has almost doubled in size, people still called out his name and clambered to see this 12 year old dog from the street, who has raised $1000.’s, as well as awareness, for the abused and abandoned.
He has new followers now, but others said they just wanted to come see him again. It warmed our hearts.
But right there, as in 2014, was Dr Treadwell.
This time to celebrate this celebrated little bully’s “two year post surgical” mark and his reign as king.
MR. KIPPERS SAYS-
“In all my life past, and in what ever time I have ahead, I will always remember that I am here , in great part, because of your skills, love and care, Dr. Nancy.
I love you. That is all.”
